1970 Ford Torino

For 1970, the Torino was its no longer part of the Fairlane name but was its own. With all new looks and style the 1970 Ford Torino was wider, lower and longer with aerodynamic lines and was voted Motor Trends Magazines Car of the Year. A new range of choices included something for everyone. From going fast, to family outings and business meetings, the 1970 Torino could meet your need. Torinos included all the Fairlane 500 trim plus a single horizontal chrome strip along the bodyside. The Torino name appeared, in script on the driver's side of the hood and in block letters on the side of the front fenders behind the front wheel openings. The new Torino Brougham offered luxurious accommodations and included the top of the trim line and standard engine options included a 302 cu. in. V-8 with 220-hp. It had all of the Torino trim plus polished aluminum wheelwell and rocker panel mouldings, retractable headlights, and wheel covers.

The Torino GT was a high performance version and included all the standard Torino trim plus hood scoop, rim rings with hubcaps, courtesy lights, carpeting, padded seats, "GT" emblems, a 302 cu. in. V-8, and E70-14 white sidewall tires. The Torino GT Cobra was the top high performance version and came equipped with the 429 cu. in. V-8 with 360-hp. It had a four-speed manual transmission, competition suspension, seven inch wide wheels with hubcaps, black center hood, hood locking pins, bright exterior mouldings, courtesy lights, "Cobra" emblems, and F70-14 black sidewall tires with raised white letters. They also offered a functional hood scoop and rear window louvers as part of the Cobra package.
